Today I’ve been using any free moment I’ve had to keep learning more and more about synthesizers and everything related to them. The fascination has been building up for years really, but now that I’m finally starting to put together a proper home studio, I feel like I really want to take my knowledge up to the next level. It’s simply incredible to me how much there is to learn, and the more I learn the better it feels to understand, to make the connections in my mind, therefore making me learn even more, just to have some more of that feeling. I don’t know how to describe it but it’s just great when you feel inspired by whatever it is you’re learning, so you struggle through it until you eventually start to get it, and then you just know that your perseverance so far has paid off, because you know you know something you didn’t know before. You get excited about all the possibilities, and the level of proficiency, not to mention efficiency, you could reach if you could only hold this mindset, if you could make this current mood stick, to never lose motivation and to exploit it to the fullest extent. Seeing as how I’m starting to run out of available inputs on my Tascam Model 12 mixer, I’ve been thinking about options for eventually expanding the signal flow, including looking into things like reverb pedals and other kinds of FX pedals, which are specifically useful for ambient music, which I’ve been dabbling in quite a bit lately, as I’ve also previously mentioned here. Although I love making music and I’ll never stop doing it, I’ve been thinking more and more about finally getting my YouTube channel started, for tutorials and such, and really going hard at trying to make that a source of passive income. It’s still a lot of work, but the way I see it, it really is more realistic than expecting to get popular enough with music to make significant money from something like streaming revenue. After all, I’d still be creating music, at least for my videos, and I’d still be doing something creative which I enjoy. Video editing is difficult and I have a lot to learn on that side as well, but although it’s definitely very different from audio editing, I’m sure I can come to grips with it and get really good at it if I just keep learning and practicing. Honestly, I’m convinced most things in life really are just like that, and I think we’d be surprised at what we all could accomplish or learn if we just gave ourselves a chance and stuck with it. Anyway, I really hope everyone out there has an opportunity to find something they’re really interested in, something for which there are endless possibilities, about which they can keep on constantly learning and exploring. If you have something like that, then I’m sure you know exactly what I’ve been trying to describe with this post. Either way, I appreciate you reading!
If you have a minute or two, check out my song ‘somewhere out there.’ Thanks.
