We live in a world of duality, where everything has a certain degree of polarity. As human beings living in this world, we are not separate from it, but a part of it. W are one with nature, since we are really no different from the rest of it. We have our own polarity, and it can often feel like a war is ranging within ourselves, as our two different sides wrestle one another for control. The fact is that we can never fully escape either side of our instinctive natures. As spiritual entities entrusted with a body at birth, for whatever reason that may be, we have aspects which reflect each of our natures – the earthly and the spiritual nature. Earthly nature is the side of us that is impulsive, since it deals with getting us everything we need, and keeping us alive in this world. It is no wonder then, especially in today’s highly materialistic and competitive society, that so many of us are mainly concerned with accumulating wealth, in order to feel secure as well as satisfy our never-ending search for pleasure. The body, which includes the brain, craves, because the more it gets the more it desires. When the mind comes to know something good it starts wanting more and more of it. The spirit, which according to mystics of all religious and spiritual traditions is guided by God or the Truth itself and is ever-present within us, exists in a higher dimension, a dimension of pure wisdom and truth, above money and all material existence. One thing that, although I’m not completely convinced of, seems interesting and possible to me, is that the feeling of the spirit’s presence within us could be what is commonly referred to as intuition, the feeling inside of ourselves that makes us feel like something is morally right or wrong, like we should hold off from pursuing something, or that we should do something we’ve been avoiding for a while. This can sometimes be the case even without knowing why what we are doing is right or wrong, but just having a deep feeling of conviction that it is, and knowing that we need to put and end to our current situation. It isn’t impossible that the spirit knows. I mean, if the body knows, why can’t the spirit know? The body knows how to digest the food we eat, it knows how to continually heal itself, it knows how to do so many things we take for granted, simply because we don’t have to consciously think of them in order for them to happen. In much the same way, it could be that the spirit, which is our true higher self, separate from the earthly nature of man which as we all know, eventually comes to an end, comes from a dimension of all that is good and true, and is itself an extension or emanation of the divine light which is the source of all that is, if worded in Kabbalistic terms, the reason of all that is.
Anyway, it’s just a thought. I might continue it tomorrow. I appreciate you reading!
