Beyond time and space, and all form as we know it. Beyond face and name and any recognizable figure, beyond any description or attempt at an explanation. Beyond the sound and the silence, beyond all good and evil, all duality and complexity; beyond all doctrine and dogma is the truth of all that is, the source of everything that ever was and ever will be. It is unknown and unknowable yet ever-present, and without it none of us would even be here to question this. Whatever we envision it as, it is the source of all that we are, and it knows who and what we are better than we ever could. Maybe it doesn’t consciously know, as a person would know, but the knowledge has to be there in some way. The way our bodies work, the way life works, the way that the planets stay in their place. How can we be so arrogant, so ignorant and immature, to believe that we understand this incredible mystery, whatever or whoever it is? Do we really think we can so firmly state whether we do or don’t believe in it, as if we have come to that conclusion after an arduous process of self-exploration and contemplation on life. How can we quarrel over who or what God is, or whether he or it or she even exists, or whether we should forcibly convert our fellow human beings to our specific ideas about this source. What does it matter what it’s called? What does it matter to which religion it belongs to? It belongs to all, and to none at the same time. We belong to it, and we are it. We are products of it, yet we use the same energy to create, and so life is constantly moving, a perpetual blessing from the source. It is up to each one of us to get in touch with this source, and no one should be coerced into any religious or philosophical belief system. Do any of us understand this life? No, but that shouldn’t stop us from acknowledging it, and living. There is a source, because every effect has a cause. There is a reason why we’re here, and I’m not necessarily referring to some deep meaning and purpose, just to the fact that something had to happen for us to be here now, or something had to have begun at some point. Seeing as how we have no idea what that that is or was, we should have a humble attitude towards life, always open to learn, seeing life as a constant adventure, a journey of understanding. Too many of us forget this, and we think we understand everything, so we start trying to influence others to believe certain things. Names, religious beliefs and organizations, philosophical ideas, these are all ultimately human inventions, and they don’t necessarily reflect this sacred source of what we are. The things that we should see as aspects of our shared source are those things that will lead to us living harmoniously with one another, the things we all share, the inherent goodness and understanding of it that makes us human beings.
