We transform challenges into opportunities, simply by accepting how little we know of all that can be know, and by opening up our minds to different knowledge and ideas, and our hearts to the voice of our intuition, which we too often try to drown out due to fear of following it, of being faced with a final decision. We can live in total and unrestrained hedonism as we avoid staring the truth in the face, but self-reflection is something we cannot evade forever, and sooner or later we will have to face facts. By acknowledging our deep state of ignorance, and yet learning to understand and embrace it, we become set free of the chains of illusion, which deceive us into the belief that we know, which cause us to fight, even to the death sometimes, for what we think we know, whatever we think we truly believe in. We know nothing about who or what we are, and that’s why we jump so eagerly at the chance to belong, to identify with some community or movement. These things show us our place in the world. We observe how others live, and we think we know what they’re doing. Then we grow up and we realize no one has any fucking clue what the hell they’re doing, everyone’s just winging it and going with the flow. We all have to act confident though, because we know that everyone is just as lost as us, and that everyone’s trying to figure their own shit out, that no one truly cares about our shit. We can act as if we know, maybe for our kids, so they can trust us and follow in our footsteps. Is that really what we want though? I don’t know, maybe it is, for a little while at least. Even as we act like we know it all, we have to remain aware that it’s nothing more than an act, and that we don’t actually know. We have to remain humble and to be open to learn, from anything and everything, from every single person we meet or even just come across. See, if we trick ourselves into believing that we know, we are sure to discontinue our search for knowledge and truth, and by the time we realize we do not know, it might be too late to start searching again. The temporary truth of this world and life allows us to perform our daily duties, and to navigate this material world we find ourselves in, but we shouldn’t be so naïve as to think that this is the only truth in the universe. We should remain humble no matter what, because even what so many of us define as definite success in this world, most likely means nothing in the grand scheme of things, and when it’s all said and done. Look at the world, listen to the people you have conversations with. Try to connect, to ask questions and to understand. It’s never a waste of time.
