This is my sixth day of posting 500 words on my blog. Yesterday I posted about my newest musical release, my instrumental rap album ‘back to the beats vol. 3,’ so this post’s topic will follow from Day 4’s post.

- If you want to start reading from where I left off on this topic, check out DAY 4.
On Day 4 I wrote about the corruption of music and other creative endeavors, something which seems to be the eventual outcome of reaching any significant success in your chosen field, at least when it comes to creative activities. I acknowledged that I don’t know exactly how to combat this corruption, and pondered the idea that it is actually inevitable and inescapable because of the very structure of reality itself, because of the duality that exists in this imperfect planet or plane of existence. We can’t really prove this idea in any way, so I am aware that it is nothing but a theory at this point, mere metaphysical speculation based on my own observations as well as those of spiritual thinkers and philosophers of the past. I mention it only because it’s an interesting possibility about the reality of our existence in this world. Let’s put such speculation to the side for now though, and we will deal with the immediate experience of the artist, or of the creative person who turns to art in search of an outlet for the strange and fascinating reality they feel within themselves.
Every artistic masterpiece, whether it’s literature, visual art, or music, was once nothing but an idea, a concept within a person’s mind. Often the reason why creative people want to create art is not fully understood even by them, yet they are sure that they want to create something, to bring something from within themselves out into the physical reality of material existence. So, let’s go back a little bit, to before the pessimistic idea of the eventual corruption of the successful artist, and let’s return to the point before he or she has reached any significant success or notoriety. We’re sure to find that at this point another essential issue arises. This issue is one which is more personal and private, which has to do with the direction in which the artist wants to move, in terms of their creative expression and accurate representation of their vision. Creativity offers unlimited possibilities, yet we need to discard some of those possibilities if we ever wish to create a finished product. How much time is too much to spend on a single project? How much time is too little? There are no definitive answers, and it is all up to the artist. In a world where 9-to-5 working is the norm for most people, where it’s a necessity as opposed to a choice, we often have to build up a discipline in order to devote our time outside of work to one very specific goal if we ever wish to succeed in it. Even then, it’s not a guarantee that we will succeed.
But what if a person is too creative, to the point that they don’t know what they should discard? What if they wish to create music, to write novels, to draw, to paint, and to do God knows how many other things, and what if they sometimes feel like doing one thing more than the other, for weeks or months or years at a time? Is this the disorganized mind of someone who has no discipline and who is confused and has no trajectory in life, someone who is living in a fantasy which will ultimately lead to their disappointment and regret? Is there actually something wrong with such a mind, or could it be that it is natural to have such a mind, and that the fact that it doesn’t fit in or adjust itself to perfectly fit in with the standard of the world isn’t proof of a problem as much as it is proof of a childlike sense of wonder and curiosity? It’s an interesting idea to ponder, and I’ll go deeper into it on tomorrow’s post. As always, I appreciate you taking the time to read these random ideas from my mind. I hope they resonate with you. Wishing you all the best!
If you have a few minutes please consider listening to my melodic trance/techno track “somewhere out there.” I put a lot of time and effort into my music and every listen means a lot to me. Any and all feedback is super appreciated!
