500 WORDS, DAY 73: We’re Not Always Aware of Our Impact

It’s crazy that many of us never fully realize just how much of an impact our very existence has on the people around us, and just how much we might matter to certain people. We might not really feel too connected to anyone in our lives, so we could feel like we don’t really matter much to anyone at all. We start to wonder things like whether or not anyone will even miss us when we are gone, whether our lives are even worth living, and whether or not we are living up to what is expected of us. Who even decides what is expected of us though? At the end of the day, we are all strangers in this world and in this life, and we are as unknown to ourselves as we are to anyone else. However, because we are ourselves, we can be nothing but ourselves, and each and every one or us has something unique that could easily inspire many others if only we decided to share it. Our lives are worth living simply because we were born, because we exist in this world. We don’t know why but that’s just the way things turned out, and now we are here to experience the consequences. Now, since we already exist and we are already living, breathing, thinking, and feeling beings, we must find the courage to embrace that fact and to ride this life out until the very end, giving it all we have to give, giving it our absolute best. Our natural course of action is to continue existing, and there’s no good reason not to agree that it’s for the best. If we don’t believe that murder is justified, then we ought to think the same of suicide. Killing, whether it is of ourselves or of someone else, is an act of bringing something to an abrupt end. Not just something, but bringing life to an end. Life, this incredibly deep and terribly misunderstood phenomenon that just happens to affect every single one of us. Through all the suffering, through all the pain and confusion of being human, we all have lessons to learn in this life, lessons we can pass on as blessings to other beings. Each person is effectively an entire universe within his or her self, because the complexity that can be found within our brains is just as mind-blowing and unfathomable as anything we have found in the world or even out in space. How can ever possibly understand our own minds then? The truth is that we can’t, and that realization alone should really humble us to the point that it makes us feel like we can withstand any circumstance, simply because life is something way too sacred and awe-inspiring for us to give up on it or let go of it. I really hope that anyone out there who might be reading this, as well as anyone who isn’t even aware of this post, let alone reading it, is able to find something that truly gives their life meaning, or is able to realize that life itself is enough, that each and every one of us is enough, simply because we are alive and we are who we are.
