Another day ends and we think nothing of it. We don’t feel any older, yet our body knows it, and so does our mind. The mind is no longer the same, but that same mind can’t perceive it. Changes are inevitable, and they happening constantly. These changes are all happening way too quickly for us to become aware of them, especially because we are the ones who are constantly changing. We change as the world changes, and the world changes as we do. The external world is a reflection of the internal lives of all the people who inhabit it. So, we go along with these changes, and although we don’t perceive them as they happen, we definitely notice their effects over the years. Slowly over time, relationships fade, and hopes and dreams are forgotten, lost in a haze of commitments and deadlines. We wonder what happened to all that time we thought we had. It seems like it just flew by. We had been taking it a day at a time, trying to simply stay afloat and make ends meet. We always thought we would get our chance; we would have our moment to shine. Now we find ourselves lost and desperately searching for meaning. How could we ever find meaning though, when we’ve attached our goals and dreams to something completely meaningless? Our lives have been reduced to chasing a piece of paper. Our time just isn’t our own. The only thing we have, and the only thing we can never replace. The problem is that many of us are too aware to survive, let alone thrive, under such conditions. Too many of us become alienated from each other because of these conditions. It seems like most people have no real friends, only a couple of acquaintances. When did it become so difficult to make friends? Children speak to anyone, and they get along with everyone. Children haven’t learned to fear life just yet, and that’s why they can live in such a way. As adults, in this modern day and age, we move along in such a rush, motivated by money and inspired by fear, or by lack of money, which leads to fear. We try to defend ourselves from the cruelty of life, and it seems like money is the only thing that can save us. Money is this world’s savior, this world’s God, if you will. We throw ourselves at our work, and we ignore our time. We ignore our health. We ignore the love of those who care for us. We might succeed in the financial sense, only to find that we are becoming empty inside. We might find ourselves treating people as if they were below us, because money can go to our head. Anyway, I had to do my daily writing goal and I guess this is my daily rant. I appreciate you reading, and if you get anything out of this, I hope you feel inspired to make today count, and tomorrow, and the day after that. Don’t let life control you, don’t let time pass you by. Don’t let life live you, you’re the one who’s meant to live it.
I appreciate you reading!
