500 WORDS, DAY 102: All That is Good and Pure

Let us dedicate ourselves to the pursuit of all that is good and pure, of all that builds character in us and that uplifts our spirit, since it’s all we’ll be taking with us when we depart from this material existence. Let us rise above all the petty nonsense, all the arguing and bickering, and let us overcome emotional instability, realizing that our emotions can be altered to our liking. We have the power to make that happen. Let us prevent unnecessary suffering, by never dwelling on past pain, instead choosing to be present and alert, truly living in the now. Let us be ready and willing to accept responsibility, to stand up for all that is good and right, to face adversity without hostility or aggression, but with kindness and compassion. Let us train ourselves until we are firmly grounded in the spirit of all that is good. Let us practice the wonderful virtues of patience, kindness, love, compassion, understanding, integrity, and self-control. Let us listen in order to truly understand, not solely to respond out of a desire to express our own ideas, to convince or win anyone over. Let our hearts be filled with true care and concern for those who come to us feeling down, troubled by the various pressures of life. It’s easy to become cold, but it isn’t worth it in the end. Let us encourage growth, in ourselves and in others, so that we may all grow rich in abundance, a completely full cup overflowing with peace of mind, with gentleness, with gratitude towards life and God, understanding that the universe is all of us, and all of us are the universe itself. Let us eagerly accept every challenge, keeping in mind that contained in every difficulty is the opportunity to learn, and to grow, to become stronger. Let the thought of constant growth excite us enough to inspire us, so that we may come to love the feeling of breaking boundaries, of truly living life. Let us transmute all forms of fear, all forms of insecurity and pain, whether created by a lost love or by a troublesome past. It all passes. It all fades away, and makes way for something new. Let us heal from all the rage and pain we have harvested within ourselves due to things which may not have turned out as we planned, or by the torturous monotony of a life without purpose. Resentment and anger only serve to poison us from within. Let us tap into our power to transmute any and every negative idea that may torment us. Let us live a life of true understanding. We may find that over time we find a magic formula for motivation, which fuels our self-improvement, and fills us with excitement to truly live and experience every moment of this strange existence.

This is something I wrote a couple of years ago. I fixed it up a bit today, but I actually wrote it a while ago. It’s funny looking back at old writing and trying to remember what my headspace was like at the time. Definitely was a bit different from now, and I’m not sure if it’s for the best. We’ll see… God willing.
